Premier League to kick off new season with nine adidas clubs.
The 2013/14 Premier League season kicks off this weekend and after a busy summer of shirt reveals clubs in England's top flight will be kitted up in their new clobber when the first whistle is blown on Saturday. With numerous clubs having swapped kit manufacturers here's a bit of a re-cap to see who's wearing what...
Out of all 20 Premier League clubs 9 of them will be wearing adidas' famous three stripes. After signing up Southampton, Fulham and West Ham to join Chelsea, West Brom, Sunderland, Hull, Swansea and Stoke adidas now boast 45% of Premier League clubs. It may be quantity over quality but it's still a pretty dominant share of the market.
Manchester is all about Nike this season, after City's switch from Umbro they join the red half of Manchester in donning the swoosh and increase the chances of a Nike team winning the title. Two top designs from Nike for two of the Premier League favourites as they go head to head for more silverware.
Completing Nike's quartet of Premier League clubs are Arsenal and Everton. Rumoured to be Arsenal's last season with the swoosh, the Gunners must receive enormous credit for retaining their away shirt from last season and saving fans a few quid, which they'll need by looking at Arsenal's season ticket prices.
Everton are into their second season as a Nike club, their new home shirt has received an extra hoop on the sleeves and a re-designed white collar. It'll take one hell of a season for all four Nike clubs to grab a Champions League spot but Everton will be confident of being there or thereabouts come May.
The clubs flying the flag for PUMA this season are Newcastle and Premier League new boys Cardiff. The Welsh club has controversially changed their home colours from blue to red in a bid to be 'more attractive to investors' or something, and it hasn't gone down too well in the Welsh capital. Not the most creative of kits from PUMA but Cardiff have had bigger issues to deal with so it's probably a safe bet.
Newcastle were the last Premier League club to reveal their 2013/14 home kit after a overcoming the Wonga/Cisse battle and to be fair it was worth waiting for, whether you're firmly anti-Wonga or not it's still a top looking kit and we're embracing the touches of blue.
Two huge American brands have claimed a top Premier League club each for the second year running. Warrior's Liverpool and Under Armour's Spurs will both have their eyes set on a Champions League slot this season and we're sticking our neck on the line by saying they're two of the best kits in the league. Maybe it's because they're just different, away from the standard templates of other brands, whatever it is we're liking it.
Norwich, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are the remaining three clubs that won't be wearing mainstream brands. The kits might not be as fashionable as others but they do give clubs a unique identity. Palace will begin life in the Prem wearing Avec, Villa continue with Macron and Norwich will be donning Errea shirts.
The 2013/14 Premier League Kits are available from online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. Got a favourite Premier League shirt?
