Japan go all in for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The countdown to Brazil has begun for Japan, qualification was secured long ago and now adidas have released their new official home kit as the squad prepares for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Inheriting the DNA of Japan kits of old adidas have created a new look packed with pride and passion.

The concept of the shirt is ENJIN (the act of going into a huddle ). According to adidas the kit is an expression of the strong determination as the players and supporters unite as one and go into a huddle ( ENJIN ) to get ready for battle. On the left side of the chest are 11 lines spreading out from the emblem, expressing the way those players depart from the ENJIN to their respective positions on the pitch.

The band featured on the back of the shirt uses the Brazilian good-luck charm (including wish for victory) bonfim (or miÇanga) as a motif. The band also serves the dual function to enhance ventilation as well as signifying the strong bond and desire for victory shared between players and supporters. The line is designed in such a way that one huge circle will be formed whenever the national team gets into a huddle ( ENJIN ) out on the pitch.

From a technology point of view, the kit features the new ultra-light polyester material called adizero, which helps to make it up to 40% lighter in comparison to previous versions of the kit, while retaining enhanced mobility and wider performance benefits.

The Japanese always create an incredible atmosphere at World Cups but spare a thought for the fans who don't travel to Brazil; due to the time difference they'll be facing 2am, 5am and 8am kick offs. Ouch. Japan will targeting the quarter finals, hoping to go one better than 2010 when they suffered penalty heartache against Paraguay in the last 16.

The new adidas Japan shirt will be available from selected online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. Let us know what you think of it.
