Russia head to Brazil top to toe in red and gold
The Russian national football team have today released the first look at their brand new adidas home kit to be worn at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The new uniform is predominantly dark red with darker sleeves, gold three stripes on the shoulders, gold badges and a gold stripe across the back.
Considering Brazil 2014 is only the third World Cup where Russia have qualified for the finals they are not generally seen as much of a threat. But the team who just sneak inside the FIFA world rankings top twenty at number nineteen will be looking to cause some upset and make a good showing of themselves ahead of their turn at hosting the tournament in 2018.
The dark red and gold shirt also features a print cutting diagonally across the front of the shirt as well as white blue and red accents to represent the Russian flag. The shorts and socks are both the same dark red as the shirt and once again have gold three stripes down the side of the shorts and around the top of the socks.
On the Back of the shirt, Россия - the Russian way to write Russia, is printed at the neck and once again there is a stripe running across the shoulders, this time in gold. The feature is something we'll see across all of adidas Brazil 2014 kits and is designed to unify all of the nations playing in adidas during the World Cup.
