Style setters and reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain unveil their 2016/17 season Nike home strip featuring a modern interpretation of the club’s iconic stripe.
Nike's first major Vapor kit release for a European club comes from the French capital, as Paris Saint-Germain get kitted out with a refreshed look and, most significantly for Nike, Aeroswift technology for the first time. On the surface, the new shirt’s body boasts traditional PSG blue with a modern V-neck collar while its signature center stripe is now broader and formed by a collection of red pinstripes bordered on either side by a defining white stripe.
The subsequent bold graphic is designed to recognise the history and DNA of the club, while the shirt’s sleeves and shoulders feature a contrasting agility rib fabric. With subtle stripes in two tones of blue, the textile creates a color shift when players are in motion. The sides of the kit feature a blue stripe detail that runs the length of the shirt and down the matching blue shorts. The stripe expands when the player is in motion providing greater ventilation and revealing bold flashes of red underneath.
On a fabric level, the 2016/17 Paris Saint-Germain home kit is constructed using Nike's most advanced methods: Aeroswift technology. They use a new, textured high-performance yarn that wicks sweat from the skin. The shirt and shorts are also constructed using a new knitting process that integrates single and double knit to enhance breathability, stretch and fit.
The Paris Saint-Germain home kit will be available from May 20th at Nike.com and official Paris Saint-Germain retailers.
