Real Madrid lay down their new look for the 2016/17 season by rolling out both adidas home and away strips in one drop. A white collared classic for the Champions League winners to take to the Bernabeu office and a pasting of purple for further afield.
Real Madrid will slip on their new designs for the first time in the US tour where they'll take on Bayern Munich, Chelsea and PSG before their first competitive game of the season against fellow Spanish European Champions Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on August 09.
The club have gone way back for the inspiration behind the home jersey, citing the clean shirt from 1902 as the design base. The new home kit is a slightly darker shade of white than in recent seasons and is completed with the three adidas stripes in blue, one of the club’s reference colours. That's pretty much it, the short version would have been it's white with a collar.
The 2016/17 Real Madrid away kit reflects on the club’s past with the purple colour a tribute to the years of the Quinta del Buitre – the name given to the core of the Madrid team, which dominated Spanish football in the 1980s. No fold-over collar on this one, just layer on layer of purple, a colour that has featured on numerous away and third shirts of Madridistas over many decades.
