Nike have unveiled the 16/17 Manchester City third kit with the help of players and fans. Capturing the essence of the city and its personified soul that embodies music, style and sport, it's a release from the highest order with photography that inspires.
There's no denying the powerhouse that is Manchester City. They have started the season with a tone that talks of title winning sophistication. Bringing fresh threads to the wardrobe, Nike have unveiled the Manchester City third kit with a series of images that shines a spotlight on the club's characters, both on and off the pitch.
From John Stones to Leroy Sane, players are joined by those that embody the lifeblood: the fans. Wearing the kit as part of the launch, Nike brought in supporters of cultured tastes to help tell this story. Joe Donovan and Tom Ogden, from the band Blossoms, offer a rock and roll approach, while Adio Marchant of Bi-Polar Sunshine brings the eclectic appreciation for music to the fore.
As well as that, boxer Marcus Morrison and Nike SB pro skateboarder Joe Gavin are also in the mix. Each giving their take on what the club means to them, it's a transition and sentiment bottled by James Faulkner when he says, “My parents met watching City so I had absolutely no choice," he explains. "That’s the way it should be really, indoctrinated from the word go. It’s a real tangible, consistent presence. Things come and go, life changes, but City is always there and there’s something comfortable in that.”
A launch that picks out the character and offers a real depth, renowned portrait photographer Michael Mayren is also involved, while it was captured by Elliot Kennedy. The full story from each of those in the mix can be seen here.
