While the MLS has been enjoying its down time on the pitch over the last few months, those behind the scenes have been hard at work preparing for the 2017 season. First out of the blocks with a solid green, shades of gold and an all round look of symbolic cool, Portland Timbers have released their new home kit which is made by adidas.
It's very much a case of less is more for this outing. The 2017 Portland Timbers home strip is a kit that is as solid as they come. A nonchalant approach to smashing style that is championed by the phrase that lines the neck of this shirt, "There's a party in Portland - No one's sleeping tonight." Rest assured, it promises to be another season that'll no doubt be Tifo heavy, passionately supported and independently thriving as far as the Rose City is concerned. 
Naturally all bases are covered with the release of the home shirt. A traditional short sleeve version is joined in force with a long sleeve counterpart and women's cut also. The material itself is what adidas are calling Ponderosa Engineered Flannel and you'll notice the patterned and textured finish adds that extra layer of tactile detail. Gold stripes line the shoulders and there is of course room for those iconic crossed-axes that are stamped onto the reverse neck-line.
Sealed with the Portland city flag in the bottom right, this is a heavyweight nod to a new season. It's time to fire up the chainsaw, there's a Timbers party to be had.
