Pick up the boom box and brush off the shell suit because Seattle Sounders have dipped their toes into a world of 'Rave Green'. Launching their 2017 secondary number for the forthcoming season, there's a nod to the past as the the "Heritage Kit" joins the party.
A sharp trim on this kit, it's a minimalist offering with big effect. A clean white finish, a polo collar and subtle striped cyan popping off ― it's not short in party pieces. Turning the years back however, this kit see's a contemporary game embrace historic ties. Across the back neckline reads, 'Seattle Sounders', in the club branding from back in 1974 ― the year they entered the NASL. Way before the MLS was even born.
Heading further down the shirt, the jock tag reads, "Born in 74", with the kit paying tribute to those establishing days that laid the foundations for where they've blossomed in today's game. In celebration, the club have released this grain heavy video. It's of course, all about those finer details.
For those at the front of the class paying extra attention, you'll notice an addition to the Seattle Sounders crest. Yet another piece of detailing that stands out strong is the introduction of a gold star that holds the number "16" front and centre. This is a tribute to the team's 2016 MLS Cup Championship ― it's a feature that'll appear across all Sounders' 2017 jerseys. All over this link up between the club and adidas is clinical. There's no retro patterns or heavy throwbacks, it's a finer sip on a game the crosses into street style with ease. Bright colours and all.
