Olympique Marseille have gone route one with their 2017/18 kits by unveiling all three home, away and third shirts in one drop. A trio of crisp contemporary designs elevated into further stylish space by the absence of a primary sponsor.
Whether it'll stay sponsor-less remains to be seen – it'll take a huge amount of strength to resist offers over the summer. Marseille enter their final year as an adidas club before life with PUMA begins from the 2018/19 season and the Three Stripes are signing off with typically stylish flair in Southern France.
As with all home shirts there's no big surprises. They were hardly going to throw around buckets or green or red. It just don't work like that. Traditional white is met with sky blue detailing on the cuffs, stripes and adidas logo. Look a little closer and you'll see the introduction of tonal stripes running down the jersey giving the clean strip a trendy edge. White shorts and white socks round this one off.
Adidas have inverted the colours of the home shirts for the 2017/18 Marseille away shirt. Sky blue with a white finish sets the scene as the stripes are moved from the shoulders of the home shirt to the sides of the away shirt. Simple but beautifully executed with navy shorts and matching sky blue socks.
The third shirt takes on an alternative design whilst sticking the the one dominant colour theme. A deep shade of purple engulfs the body of the shirt right up to the classic polo-neck collar. Adidas making full use of the experimental canvas that third shirts offer – no ties to traditional, just the freedom to try something different. Job done. Marseille looking smart for the new campaign.
