Hummel have cooked up a dish of bespoke brilliance for the Danish National Team this week by revealing a special edition kit made up from old Denmark jerseys donated by fans cross the country.
Beautifully special stuff, we think you'll agree. Made even more special by the fact that the Danish team will wear the jerseys in their pre-World Cup friendly match against Chile on March 27 before auctioning them off to raise money for charity. Custom football shirts for the greater good; we can definitely get on board with that trend.
The patchwork design is made up of throwback kits including the one of Denmark's most iconic shirts – the split pinstripe home jersey of '86 (below). Of course, Hummel are a Danish brand, and a project like this is born from the brand being rooted deep into the DNA of the national team.
“In our view, football is something you share with one another,” says hummel CEO Allan Vad Nielsen. “That’s why we think it makes perfect sense to give the national team’s many fans the chance to be part of a national match in a whole new way, namely by making them part of the team - so to speak - and showing their support through the only thing the players are allowed to bring onto the pitch: The jersey."
After the match against Chile at Aalborg Stadium, the jerseys will be auctioned off on the fundraising site odendo.dk.
