The start of the 2019 MLS season is inching ever nearer, and in preparation Philadelphia Union have launched their special “Inspired” secondary jersey, which celebrates the club’s 10th season by featuring customisable back tags – a first-ever in the MLS – bringing a unique identity to the new kit.
At the tail end of last year, The Union launched an initiative that saw fans become a part of the design process for the club’s 10th season jersey, inviting them to vote for their favourite back tags. They worked on several designs for the back tags with many different Philadelphia-based influencers. With the voting closed, the designs are now locked and loaded and ready for each player to choose from for their on-field jerseys, and for fans to wear while cheering them on.
“We’re a club founded by fans and we wanted these kits to reflect that in our 10th season,” said Doug Vosik, Union Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The kit was inspired by the fans and Union history, while also incorporating adidas’ new “digitized” design concept to bring freshness and a cleaner, simpler aesthetic.
The 2019 Philadelphia Union Secondary Jersey goes on sale on 8 February.
