Nike's 2019/20 kit game goes from strength to strength as the Swoosh unveil the new Inter Milan home shirt for the upcoming campaign. Taking inspiration from the classic away kit the Nerazzurri wore in the 1989/90 season, the jersey features with a band of diagonal stripes stretching across the chest.
A stylish intersection of the famous vertical stripes, the fresh approach keeps the home shirt fresh and modern whilst respecting tradition, an often difficult combination to nail on a home shirt design. Diagonal stripes were also a key element of a former club crest used between 1978 and 1988, and here they form the focal point of a shirt which is beautifully framed by a white V-neck collar and white trim on the sleeves.
An elevated trim ensures the Inter crest stands out, and inside the jersey is an ‘inner pride’ feature pays tribute to more Inter heritage. It takes the shape of a St George’s Cross, to highlight the club’s connection to the city of Milan, as well as a star, the word ‘Internazionale’ and ‘1908’ in honour of Inter’s founding year. The kit is completed by black shorts and colour blocked socks – half black, half blue – taken directly from the neck of the Biscione, an enduring club symbol.
Inter Women led the line in unveiling the kit on the back of a successful debut campaign, while the men's team will wear the kit for the first time in their final league game of the current season on May 26. A win will give them a shot of wearing the new strip in next year's Champions League.
