To celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary, Manchester City and new kit partner PUMA have unveiled a specially designed limited-edition commemorative anniversary kit, which will be worn by the men’s team when they take on Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday 4 August.
The shirt is inspired by the Club’s history, with specific design elements voted for by the Club’s fans, and it is primarily light blue with a white trim. The crest features gold embroidery below, denoting the Club’s 125 years. The inside neck of the shirt also contains a copy of the Club’s founding document, signed by Joshua Parlby, who played an instrumental role in leading the members of Ardwick AFC to found and incorporate Manchester City Football Club.
A limited edition run of 1,894 individually numbered authentic shirts will be produced to reflect the Club’s founding year.
Chief Operating Officer, Omar Berrada, said of the commemorative shirt: "Manchester City has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, but we also have a rich history that we are incredibly proud of. The Club’s 125th anniversary season will provide us with the opportunity to mark key moments in the life of Manchester City, and celebrate the fantastic journey that our Club and our fans have been on together."
The Manchester City 125 year commemorative shirt will be available to buy from 29 August.
