Kappa Launch The Real Betis “Kombat XX" Collection

Kappa continue to create a culture of cool around its core clubs this season, and that concept is carried on to La Liga side Real Betis, for whom the Italian brand unveil a sublime capsule collection that marks the 20th anniversary of its original Kombat shirt.

Following on from the AS Monaco Kombat XX Collection, Kappa turns its attention to its Spanish cohort, providing Real Betis with a similarly retro-infused collection that celebrates 20 years since the debut of the original Kombat 2000 shirt. And as part of the collection, Betis will get a special Kombat anniversary shirt, which the team will wear in their fixture against Barcelona on 9 February.

The original Kombat shirt was released at the turn of the century, ushering in a new innovation that saw a much tighter fit and a second-skin feel. In many ways it was ahead of its time, but now on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Kappa plough back into their archives to produce a complete 100 percent retro sportswear capsule in support of the special edition shirt.

The Betis Kombat XX collection reinterprets some of the most emblematic sets of the brand’s early 2000 collections, taking inspiration from the bold block colouring and iconic looks that were used in the 2000s, including the timeless Kappa banda. Modelled by promising young Betis players Mohamed Mizzian, Raúl García de Haro and Roberto González Bayan the collection has been captured in and around the Benito Villamarín for what is fast becoming a trademark lookbook that does the the capsule all the justice it deserves.
