They may be facing up to life without Timo Werner, but Red Bull Leipzig have just unveiled their new Nike home and away kits for the 20/21 season ahead of debuting them in their final home game of the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund.
Back in February of this year, news broke that Red Bull Leipzig were set to become Nike’s 10th elite team, joining Atletico, Barca, PSG, Inter, Galatasary, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool as the only representatives from Germany. And now the first fruits of that elevated status have been revealed, with the club unveiling their 20/21 home and away shirts ahead of their final home match of this season’s Bundesliga, unfortunately giving them a losing start as they crashed 2-0.
Following the news of Red Bull’s promotion within the Swoosh ranks, Nike announced that they were moving away from template shirt designs, opting instead for bespoke creations that play with the 65 chassis options available to their designers, along with varying necklines, sleeves, cuffs, badge placement. And RB Leipzig's shirt offerings for the 20/21 season are the first domestic options released under this new approach.
The home shirt sees the classic white and red colouring of the German side, but offset with a red lightning “flash" graphic down the side of the shirt that's inspired by the vibrant colours of the Red Bull logo. This is then complemented by dynamic lines that run harmoniously upwards towards the back of the shirt, taking the form of two powerful wings (Red Bull gives you wings, don't you know.) The design is supposed to underpin what RB Leipzig stand for: dynamism, power, strength, courage and a hunger for success.
The Red Bull Leipzig 20/21 home shirt goes on sale on 27 July.
