Taking inspiration from the countless iconic monuments that give the Italian capital its distinctive appearance and unmatched beauty, whilst also paying homage to past success, Nike launch the Roma 20/21 away shirt.
Roma just don’t do bad shirts, do they? Let’s hope that continues beyond their days with Nike anyway, after the club and brand announced that they were terminating their contract early, meaning that, barring a third shirt, this is the last collaboration between the pair. But what a way to sign off; the stripped back ivory design of the shirt highlighted by that polo collar, which comes in dark red with yellow and red border details, bringing to mind the club’s away shirts from the early 1980s — a golden era for the club.
That dark red also features on the sleeve cuffs and down the sides of the shirt, framing the design and placing emphasis on the iconic Lupetto badge. Originally designed by the late Piero Gratton, the returning crest this time features in black — a modern take on the club's kits from the late 1970s, which displayed the badge in its usual yellow and red circular frame.
The away shirt accompanies the previously released home shirt, the pair again placing Roma squarely in the running for best dressed team in Europe. Just have to hope that the Italian giants have something up their sublime sleeves following this season…
