Ready to stand out in Europe, adidas have launched the Manchester United 20/21 third shirt, with a wavy monochrome design that’s trimmed in red to link to the club’s identity. The shirt is inspired by striped jerseys from the club’s history.
The Red Devils lineup is complete for the coming campaign, as adidas unveil the Manchester United third shirt for the 20/21 season. Sitting alongside the already released home and away shirts, this third option is loud, brash, and sure to divide opinion, with the German brand saving the majority of its risk-taking design for this final flourish. It’s brave, it’s bold, and it doesn’t just stop at the shirt, either, travelling down through the shorts and socks – although this is for fans only, with the team playing in plain white shorts and white socks.
United have a history with striped shirts, having played in a striped shirt over 100 years ago. Since then they've had eye-catching designs in the 1970s and 80s, and this new shirt aims to provide a fresh update to tradition, while delivering a vibrant new print. Stripes go back to the team’s first year at its home in Old Trafford, when the team wore a classic blue and white striped shirt as the alternative kit. The collar on this new jersey features a ‘110 years of stripes’ sign off, signifying the history of the club’s jerseys.
