Going back to a tried and tested formula, adidas and Argentine Primera Division side River Plate have unveiled the club’s new third shirt for the 2021 season, with a return of the Tricolore design that was last seen in 2018.
Ahead of the return of the Copa Libertadores, adidas have unveiled the new River Plate third kit for the 2021 season, with a return of a design that harks back to the club’s look from the early 20th century – one that was also used in 2018, again as the club’s third shirt. It arrives along with the header of “Three colours, one passion”. The new third shirt joins River's home and away shirts, completing the set for the 2021 season.
The Tricolore design sees the club’s traditional white and red combined with black in a stripe design. The black dominates the shoulders, with the Three Stripes featuring in white. The red and white stripes on the body are bordered by black just like the 2018 version, although here the stripes are wider.
The shirt will mainly be used in the Copa Libertadores, which is currently ploughing its way through the preliminary stages, before the likes of River take to the stage in the coming months.
