New Balance Launch FC Tokyo 2021 Third Shirt

Continuing their relationship with the J1-League side, New Balance launch the FC Tokyo 21/22 third shirt. A bespoke design, it draws inspiration from the unmistakable Tokyo Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower – Japan’s tallest structure for more than fifty years.

New Balance got their new partnership with J1-League side FC Tokyo underway earlier this year with the launch of the club’s new home and away shirts, and they are now followed up by the launch of the third shirt, which is is introduced in a black shade. As with the home and away shirts, it is launched under the ‘You are Tokyo’ campaign that aims to celebrate Japanese football fans in the capital, uniting them through F.C. Tokyo.

The new third shirt design is inspired by the Tokyo Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower, which dominate the Tokyo skyline. A bold central graphic reminiscent of the lit-up towers in the summer night is added in club’s symbolic blue and red shades ensuring a modern twist on the classic design.

Kenny McCallum, General Manager at New Balance Football, said: Tokyo Tower is one of Japan’s iconic landmarks and visible from every corner of the city. Just like F.C. Tokyo, the building has a rich history and is a key part of the city’s identity. New Balance was keen to harness its influence on the local landscape as a fantastic source of inspiration for the team to wear on their travels.

That was followed up by F.C. Tokyo midfielder and New Balance athlete, Hirotaka Mita, who said: New Balance have really impressed me with their design. Tokyo Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower is so familiar to all the players, fans and supporters. We are looking forward to wearing a small reminder of Tokyo’s incredible skyline whenever we have to play away from home”.

The F.C. Tokyo 2021 Third Jersey is now on-sale in limited numbers.
