As has been done in the last two years, adidas once again drop the Lyon home and away shirts for the upcoming campaign at the same time. The 21/22 home shirt sees a return to a classic look for the French side, while the away shirt ventures into new territory.
Olympique Lyon will wrap up their season with a home fixture against Nice this weekend, and they’ll do so in their new home kit for the 21/22 season from adidas, which harks back to one of the most successful spells in the club's history. It has been unveiled alongside the club’s new away look, both of which feature some striking details hidden within the overall design, all presented in classic club colours.
The Lyon home shirt sees the return of a classic look, first debuted in the 70s, and then again as they won six of their seven consecutive titles from 2001/02. It arrives with a traditional white base, but veers into classic territory with a stripe running down the left of the chest, incorporating the blue and red that make up the club’s classic colours. It’s a look that will likely be very welcome by the fans. And it’s within this stripe that added details come to light, with a sublimated lion from the club crest repeated throughout.
For the away shirt, it’s a new look that’s punctuated by a sublimated graphic that runs throughout. It lends the shirt a deeper texture, combining different shades of red through the body with navy details on the collar, cuff and Three Stripes, which sit on the shoulders.
