Dropping somewhat out of – and into – the blue, Ajax unveiled and then debuted their new away kit for the 21/22 season from adidas this weekend, giving it a great start with a 3-0 win over Feyenoord in what was their first match as Eredivisie champions.
It’s been another cracking season for Ajax, who have secured a league and cup double with games to spare. And so one of those games to spare – their first as league champions – has been used to debut their new away kit for the 21/22 season. The shirt continues the club’s tradition of having striped shirts, which started in the first decade of its existence, when they played in a striped home jersey. Ever since the 80’s, Ajax has had a striped away kit every decade.
The predominantly striped kit follows last season's retro design, and it consists of two shades of blue, with mint green accents that pop through the pinstripes, sponsor, branding and club crest. The three Andreas crosses from Amsterdam are also mint green, while the dark blue borders around the stars and logos of adidas and Ziggo also stand out. The names and numbers on the back have the same mint green colourway and come in a new font with distinctive lines.
The Ajax 21/22 Away Shirt is available through the Ajax webshop and adidas.nl
