adidas Launch Real Madrid 21/22 Home Shirt

After a trophy-less season, attention inevitably turns to the future for Los Blancos, and helping with that is the reveal of the club’s new home shirt from adidas for the 21/22 campaign. It introduces a fresh new design created to highlight what makes the Real Madrid spirit unique.

Real Madrid are facing up to a changing of the guards of sorts: gone is Zidane from the manager’s seat, and what will inevitably follow is a minor overhaul of what is an ageing squad. This is a team for whom winning is in their very essence, and that doesn’t accept finishing a season empty handed. But to achieve the level of success that Madrid have over the years, you need the support of the fans. The 21/22 home shirt is a symbol of the Real Madrid community united as one. This is Grandeza.

For the shirt, adidas has taken the iconic white of Real Madrid and introduced a subtle spiral graphic engineered into the fabric. The spiral design reflects the fountains in the Plaza de Cibeles, an area of Madrid synonymous with the club – a place where fans unite to celebrate winning titles. The clean white base colour of the shirt is complemented by bright pops of Lucky Orange and High-Res Blue which represent the vibrant culture of the capital. The contrasting colours feature on the loop label of the neck which also incorporates the spiral design, as well as the sponsor logos and three stripes.

Real Madrid is a unique team with a unique history,” said Marco Omiccioli, Football Designer at adidas. “We wanted to keep the design of this season’s jerseys bold yet simple to reflect the expectation that comes with the badge, and that is to win. With a meaningful reference to the Cibeles within the city and the colours of the stadium, which the clubs’ players and fans are proud to call home, we wanted to give supporters a sense of pride when they put on this season’s shirt. Real Madrid has always been a club cut from a different cloth, and this year’s jersey is no different.
