Ajax Debut Club-Edition Version Of adidas 'Love Unites' Collection

Ahead of their Johan Cruyff Shield match against PSV on the weekend, Ajax stepped out in a special club-edition version of the adidas 'Love Unites' collection ahead of their match against PSV on Saturday night, recognising 25 years of Amsterdam Pride.

The Dutch curtain raiser that is the Johan Cruyff Shield match didn’t quite go according to plan for Ajax, with PSV dishing out a humbling 4-0 hammering. But prior to the match, the current Eredivise champions and KNVB holders debuted a special club-edition version of the adidas 'Love Unites' collection, which included a Tiro jersey and track jacket.

Originally launched as part of the adidas 2021 'Pride Collection' that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community's expressive creativity, the Ajax-exclusive pre-match Tiro jersey included a tonal club crest, the number 25 on the back, and the club’s 'Ziggo' sponsor incorporated throughout. The track jacket features the same graphic that dominates the shirt, restricted to a central band that separates the black upper and sky blue lower. Pink Three Stripes run down both sleeves, while the words “Love Unites” surrounds the adidas logo in a stylised execution on the back.

Ajax were not the only team to wear the special collection, with South African side Orlando Pirates also showing off their version ahead of their Carling Black Label cup loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
