Rangers celebrate their 150th anniversary this year, and helping them celebrate in style, Castore have produced a special edition kit titled the ‘Gallant Pioneers’ kit. It is set to be worn in a competitive match at some point this season.
The ‘Gallant Pioneers’ kit celebrates Rangers’ 150th anniversary and pays tribute to the four young lads who founded the club in 1872. The shirt is a classic white design, paying homage to the one worn in the first team photograph in 1877, and it is notable for its off-centre collar, which featured prominently on the club’s first kits within the 1800s.
Taking things way back, the shirt features a stitched crest in recognition of the first scroll crest which was notably featured on their Season Ticket covers in 1881. This scroll crest, which delicately and artistically interlocks the club’s initials, was developed in close collaboration with Castore, and the ribbon underneath the crest displays “1872” and “2022”. Keeping the aesthetics classically clean, Rangers’ partners 32Red, Seko, Utilita, Tomket and Bitci agreed to allow the heritage inspired Gallant Pioneers kit to be sponsorless.
As an extra special touch, the words “Gallant Pioneers” have been embossed into the fabric to immortalise the great Bill Struth’s quote: “No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.”
The launch of the Gallant Pioneers kit has been supported by a unique 150th anniversary season video, ‘’The Legacy of Ready’ developed entirely in-house at Rangers, featuring appearances from a number of modern day first team stars.
