Celebrating 100 years of the Portugal national team, Portugal Store have produced a special centenary shirt that harks back to the nation’s first official match, which was against the Spanish National Team on 18 December, 1921 in Madrid.
The first thing to note with the Portugal centenary jersey is that it is not something that the national team in this coming international break, or ever for that matter. No, this is sadly just a recreation of the jersey the side wore in their first-ever match 100 years ago. Doesn’t stop it being a tidy offering for any Portugal fans, but we can’t help but think how good it would look on the backs of Ronaldo et al. Oh well…
Limited to just 500 units, the jersey perfectly recreates the original look of that first match against Spain. The kit was actually just a loan from Casa Pia Atlético Clube for the game, but as a result has taken on special meaning for the nation. The simple design sees a black base joined by a white collar and a large crest on the left of the chest.
This limited edition is accompanied by a commemorative ball and a certificate of authenticity, which contains the number of the copy properly identified, all packed in a very special box created for the moment.
