Not content with the regular home, away and third kit setup, or even with a fourth shirt in the mix for good measure, Napoli have debuted their new third shirt from EA7, which is the club’s 10th shirt of the season so far.
Napoli were on fire in their game against Salernitana over the weekend, winning the game 4-1. It was an appropriate performance for the debut of their new ‘Flames’ third shirt for the 21/22 season. Now some may think that it’s pretty late on for the unveiling of a new third shirt, being that we’re already over half way through the season, and normally you’d be right. But the ‘Flames’ third shirt is the club’s 10th shirt of the season so far, and it’s had to wait for its moment as the club rolled out numerous other special edition shirts, including three Maradona tributes and a Halloween offering.
We don’t fully understand the logic behind releasing a third shirt after a fourth shirt, but not something we’re going to lose any sleep over. So this is the third shirt, referred to as ‘Flames’ for obvious reasons, with that sublimated flame graphic in Napoli’s traditional blue dominating the whole design. Sure, it may look a little bit like the kit British Gas would wear if they were to put together a team, but it’s a striking look.
The shirt design is supposedly “dedicated to the love felt for the great Napoli team; a love and passion that fuels and feeds the competitive fire of the club’s warriors out on the field of play.” Fair enough then. Still think 10 kits is a tad greedy. Reports suggest that this one will also get the European treatment, with gold trim added, taking the total to 11. No one needs 11 kits, surely?
