The new J-League campaign gets underway next month, and Tokyo FC have unveiled their new home and away kits from New Balance, with subtle switch ups to their classic looks.
New year, new season, new kits. That’s the case in Japan anyway, and New Balance serve up a refresh to the traditional look for Tokyo FC on both the home and away front as the partnership enters its second year. Tradition remains at the forefront of the design particularly for the home shirt, while the away builds and moves on from the design of last season.
So for the home it’s the traditional blue and red stripe look, although the stripes are widened for a five stripe presentation (three blue and two red). This covers the front and back of the shirt, and the colours are accented by yellow trim that flashes though the front of the collar.
For the away shirt there’s a switch from vertical to horizontal stripes, with the blue and red home colours fading throughout. They still ride on that white base, while navy accents appear on the collar and cuffs. The ‘MIXI’ sponsor also switched to red, dominating the front and centre of the shirt. The wording “You’ll Never Walk Alone” – familiar to those in the UK, especially in the North West – appears on the inner collar of both for a nice finishing touch.
