Taking the traditional Black and Yellow in a stripe formation, PUMA launch the Borussia Dortmund 22/23 home shirt, which will debut on pitch when BVB takes on Hertha BSC Berlin in the last match day of the season on 14 May.
Founded on December 19, 1909, it was clear BVB was different from other clubs. 18 youngsters came together to start the Ballspielverein Borussia in the “Zum Wildschütz” inn on Borsigplatz. And it’s this legendary birthplace that serves as the inspiration for this season’s Home jersey, with a special graphic representing the windows of the Wildschütz inn sitting within the black stripes.
So the shirt is unmistakably yellow with black stripes (as opposed to being black with yellow stripes), and from a far the design looks a little uninspiring. But it’s on closer inspection that the details of this shirt really stand out, elevating it beyond mere mediocrity; those details with the black stripes adding to the richness of the design. The stripes make way for the 1&1 sponsor, which still feels a tad garish, but the fact it's incorporated as opposed to just sitting on top of the stripes does help a little.
Further details can be seen in the form of the “Borussia Verbindet” lettering, located on the neck of the black and yellow jersey.
The new jersey arrives in two iterations. The ULTRAWEAVE performance fabric and dryCELL sweat-wicking technology makes the jersey the lightest and most comfortable PUMA has ever made. The Replica version is made with 100 percent recycled polyester with dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and comfortable throughout the 90 minutes and beyond.
