With the Bundesliga all wrapped up, RB Leipzig’s attention will be squarely on one of this Saturday and the DFB Pokal final against Frieburg. Ahead of that huge match, the club have unveiled their new Nike away shirt for the 22/23 season.
RB Leipzig just about managed to scrape into the Champions League spots this season, finishing fourth in the Bundesliga. But on top of that they also made it to the DFB Pokal final, which is set to play out this Saturday at the Olympiastadion Berlin, and if they can go one better than last season and overcome SC Freiburg then it will be a season to remember, marking their first success in the competition and their first major piece of silverware since their foundation in 2009. But ahead of that, attention briefly turns to next season with the unveiling of the club’s new away shirt.
Taking the red of Red Bull quite literally, the new look will see Leipzig decked head to toe in rouge (OK, we know that technically RB stands for RasenBallsport, but then our previous bit wouldn’t work, would it?). The design uses different tones of red for definition, most notably in the collar, cuff and side stripe, but also in the graphic execution on the front, which sees a plaid design playing out.
This marks the first bespoke red shirt that Nike have ever produced for RB Leipzig, with the colour also being promoted to away for the first time, having previously only featured as a third or fourth option.
