Evoking early 1990’s vibes, Scottish champions Celtic and adidas reveal the first release of their kit collection for 2022/23 with an eye-catching Away shirt. The design sees the return of a pinstripe design, with green sitting on a black base.
Preparing to enter their third season of partnership, adidas delve into the archives to continue their strong form for Scottish side, Celtic. While we await the club’s new home shirt, the brand open proceedings for 22/23 with the away, which sees an update on a classic look that was last used in the 1992 - 94 period, with its pinstripe-style design in classic black, green and white. It’s smart switch up for the side sometimes referred to as the Hoops, but it’s far from being the first time they’ve gone with stripes.
The last time the club had pinstripes was in 15/16, and prior to that they had traditional stripes in 06/07, also in the black and green colour combo that we see here, but this year’s look is lifted straight from the design of the early 90s. As well as that homage-filled pinstripe design, there is also a shield style embroidered Celtic crest sitting proudly on the chest to complete the look for the Bhoys on Away days. There’s a further nod to the history books with the name of the champions “Celtic FC” on the back neck of the shirt, using the style of the iconic stained glass window from the stadium that has welcomed so many legends to Celtic Park over the decades.
