The Best Kit Debuts From 22/23 Preseason

While we wait for all kits to be released for the 22/23 season, the majority of teams have revealed their home and away shirts. Here we round up the biggest and best debuts from preseason so far.

The 22/23 season looks to be shaping up very nicely in terms of new kit designs. While Nike have lent heavily into their new authentic 22/23 Vaporknit template, which is getting a run out ahead of the 2022 World Cup, they have presented some nice aesthetic refreshes for the likes of PSG, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Barcelona. For adidas, the return of the collar has been a big talking point for Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal, while there’s also been some clean new looks for the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus. PUMA have also presented strong options for the champions of England and Italy, Manchester City and AC Milan respectively. And that’s just the giants of Europe.

Seems the place to be this preseason has been in the States, with most teams heading that way for their traditional preseason tours. And so it’s in these games that most new kits have had their debuts, and here we round up the best of the bunch.

Liverpool Away – Manchester United v Liverpool (Rajamangala Stadium)

One of the waviest kits to drop this season, the Liverpool away shirt looks just as good on pitch as it does off it. Not the best start for it, suffering a 4-0 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals, United, but imagine there will be better days ahead.

Manchester United Home – Manchester United v Liverpool (Rajamangala Stadium)

Two debuts in one match, and by contrast, United fans will have loved the result in their new home kit. All about that collar for this design...

Inter Milan Home – Lugano v Inter Milan (Cornaredo Stadium)

The new Inter home shirt reverts to a more traditional look after the snake skin inspired design from last season.

Barcelona Away – UE Olot v Barcelona (Camp Municipal d'Olot)

Taking inspiration from all of the gold medals that were dished out 30 years ago in the city, the Barcelona 22/23 away shirt appropriately arrived in an all-over gold colour. One of those that looks even better on pitch.

PSG Home – PSG v Quevilly-Rouen (Centre d'entraînement Ooredoo)

After a brief fling with the Jumpman, it's back to Nike for the PSG home shirt this season. Still not sure about the Hechter stripe breaking halfway for the sponsor...

Liverpool Home – Liverpool V Crystal Palace (Singapore National Stadium)

Just a plain red design? Nah, the Liverpool home shirt has a bit more about it than that. It's a throwback to the 1964-65 season – the first time the team stepped across the white line in all red.

AC Milan Home – Köln v Ac Milan (RheinEnergieStadion)

The Serie A champions will look to defend their crown, and they'll do so in a traditional yet progressive design from PUMA, constructed from ULTRAWEAVE technology, the brand's lightest, highest-performance material ever developed.

Manchester United Away – Manchester United v Crystal Palace (Melbourne Cricket Ground)

The club's first white away shirt since the 15/16 season sees the additions of two-tone black and red Three Stripe details featuring across the shoulders as well as detailing in the collar and cuffs ensuring all three core club colours come together through the kit.

Manchester City Away – Club América v Manchester City (NRG Stadium)

Despite getting revealed after the club's home kit, the away got its debut first, showing off the return of the iconic black and red stripes for the club, albeit with a contemporary twist that sees them run diagonally across the shirt.

PSG Away – Kawasaki Frontale v PSG (Japan National Stadium)

Paying tribute to the legendary Parc des Princes stadiumthe PSG away shirt debuted with a new font on the back, teasing what looks to be an upcoming collaboration with graphic designer and member of the collective VK DESIGN WORKS, VERDY.

Barcelona Home – Inter Miami v Barcelona (DRV PNK Stadium)

Following the somewhat divisive home shirt from last season, it's more of a traditional feel for Barcelona this season, with a design that nods to the Barcelona Olympics in the year that the city is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Games.

Arsenal Away – Orlando City v Arsenal (Exploria Stadium)

Adidas continue their run of banging Arsenal shirt designs with the club's new away shirt, which is inspired by the lettering seen on the journey to the Emirates.

Juventus Away – Juventus v Guadalajara (Allegiant Stadium)

An understated design for Juventus on the road this season, with influence coming from the atmosphere at night games. It's a look that leaves a lot of emphasis on that "Jeep" sponsor logo, which this season comes complete with lightning strike graphics.

Manchester City Home – Bayern Munich v Manchester City (Lambeau Field)

A debut for both the home shirt and for new signing Erling Haaland, and it was one to remember for both, Haaland getting the only goal of the game.

Bayern Munich Away – Bayern Munich v Manchester City (Lambeau Field)

Same game, but obviously not the same result for Bayern Munich. Still, despite what their Bundesliga record suggest, you can't win them all. Better times ahead for this regal look, for sure.

Real Madrid Home – Real Madrid v Barcelona (Allegiant Stadium)

A preseason clásico in Paradise – Paradise, Nevada that is – the perfect place to debut a new home shirt. For Real Madrid, it saw the return of a collar and purple trim, conjuring proper 90s vibes.
