Nike Unveil Barcelona 22/23 Third Shirt

With a simplistic design that keeps the club’s traditional colours at heart, Nike launch the Barcelona 22/23 third shirt, which sees a light grey base overlaid by a cross graphic made up of the classic blaugrana combo of blue and red. The shirt that will be worn for the first time tonight in the friendly against Manchester City

Barcelona’s clothing options for 22/23 have seriously improved on what came last season, with a far more traditional feeling home shirt lining up alongside an away look that just keeps growing on us the more we see it. Well that pair are now joined by a starkly different third shirt that still carries a simplistic charm. It features a design inspired by the Creu de Sant Jordi – Cross of Sant Jordi – on the 30th anniversary of the presentation of the award of that name to the club.

Unlike last season the third kit will not be exclusive to European competitions but will be alternated with the first and second kits in the different tournaments.

The club's social commitments are manifested in this strip through the prominent presence of the Cross of Sant Jordi (Saint George) in the design. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the awarding of said Cross by the Government of Catalonia to FC Barcelona in recognition of its contributions to the betterment of society and its leading role in the promotion of sport, as well as its values in relation to sport, civic duty, and solidarity, which make it so unique in the sports world.

As with all of Nike’s major shirt releases for 22/23, the Barca third shirt arrives in the new Nike authentic 22/23 Vaporknit template, which features a new knit pattern. It’s the 2022 World Cup template that Nike will use for the upcoming tournament in Qatar, getting a run out ahead of the December showpiece. The modern, fitted template is designed to allow more dynamic movement thanks to panel cuts inspired by base-layer compression wear.
