Paying homage to their home, São Januário stadium, Brazilian side Vasco Da Gama have unveiled their new third shirt for the 22/23 season from Kappa, and it’s joined by two equally striking goalkeeper shirts.
Brazilian side Vasco Da Gama and Kappa really do have a good thing going. Having already made our recent list of 10 Of The Best Shirts Of 2022 That You’ve Never Seen with their home shirt (which could easily have been joined by the equally sublime away), they now storm right back onto the scene with an absolute belter of a third shirt, which is backed up by not one, but two sublime goalkeeper shirts. Venezia Da Gama anyone? No? OK, we’ll stop there.
All three shirts pay homage to the club’s home stadium, with the jacquard fabric featuring a design inspired by the tiles at the São Januário. The third shirt comes in a delicious off-white, while the keeper shirts come in wine and black options, with all three finished with gold details in collar, cuff and branding. Another exclusive detail of this shirt is the golden crest in honour of the shield on the statue of Vasco da Gama at the entrance to the São Januário social.
Other elements present on the third shirt are that polo collar with contrasting gold frieze in the off-white option, inner collar tape with a pattern referring to the Brazil-Portugal union and internal patch commemorating the foundation of São Januário.
The Black and Off-White shirt also has the option of long sleeves, which contains the coordinates of São Januário as a detail near the cuff, again in gold. For the short sleeve shirts this detail will be present in the shorts.
“It is always a huge responsibility to capture all these details in the traces of our history and apply them to our official uniforms,” explained Marketing Creation Team coordinator Marcelo Azalim. “The final result of this third kit exceeded my expectations in every detail, but this work is made easier with constant support from Kappa Italy and Brazil in addition to all the marketing sectors of the Club.”
