Chelsea Release 22/23 Third Shirt From Nike

Having been revealed recently, the new Chelsea third shirt for the 22/23 season from Nike is now available to pick up. It arrives in golden hues that uphold the club’s golden standards, while fitting in seamlessly with their stylish south-west London location.

Coming in much later than most (but not yet all) Chelsea have finally unveiled and made available for retail, their new third shirt for the current campaign. The design is inspired by the idea of ‘Chelsea Smart’ – defined as being when classic meets cutting-edge (their words, not ours), but it’s a tag that epitomises the club, while the design of the shirt itself leans into the future of west London fashion for a stylish option both on the pitch and away from it.

Despite their prematch clothing worn en route to Italy suggesting as much, the new Chelsea third shirt did not get a run out against AC Milan in this week’s Champions League fixture, and so we await its official debut; the presence of the golden clothing obviously misleading as the Premier League side wore their away shirt in the win.

Historically, a yellow jersey has featured frequently in Chelsea’s change strips, and this sesame colour is a progression of that colourway – familiar but new. It dominates the look as the base colour, with orange and black accents popping on the cuffs. Black then features in the branding, sponsor and club crest, while the rear collar features the wording “Chelsea FC London” as a tidy sign off.

As with all of Nike’s major shirt releases for 22/23, the Chelsea third shirt arrives in the new Nike authentic 22/23 Vaporknit template, which features a new knit pattern. It’s the 2022 World Cup template that Nike will use for the upcoming tournament in Qatar, getting a run out ahead of the December showpiece. The modern, fitted template is designed to allow more dynamic movement thanks to panel cuts inspired by base-layer compression wear.
