Prepped for the 2023 campaign, adidas have launched the new Sao Paulo home shirt, which will be worn by the club as they battle on four fronts in the Campeonato Paulista, Copa do Brasil, Copa Sudamericana and Brasileirão Série A.
With the contract between Sao Paulo and adidas set to expire in December 2023 and question marks hanging over whether or not it will be renewed, what we could be looking at here is the last home shirt for the Brazilian side to come from the Three Stripes. The German brand have been producing Sao Paulo’s kits since 2018, when they took over from Under Armour, but it seems all is not well. A quick glance at the club’s kit history shows that there’s not a great deal of variation in both home and away offerings over the years, and the 2023 shirt once again plays safe with a traditional design.
The big highlight of the 2023 design is the fact the iconic red and black horizontal hoops, which run across the chest and house the shield in the center, this time continue uninterrupted on the back, a detail much requested by fans. The new adidas performance logo takes its position on the right chest for the first (and possibly last) time on a SPFC home shirt, appearing in black, while the Sportsbet.io logo takes the same colour, riding just below the hoops.
The collar and cuffs feature black accents on for definition, and a seal on the inside of the collar features the word "Origins". The Three Stripes branding on the shoulders then take on a nice finish, with two red stripes taking position either side of the central black.
The new kit should debut in the quarterfinals of Paulistão against Água Santa on Monday.
