Honouring the club’s 1952 Copa Rio victory, Umbro have unveiled the new Fluminense away shirt, which will be in use through the remainder of 2023 and into 2024.
The Copa Rio was one of the first intercontinental competitions in Brazil, contested by clubs from Austria, Germany, Portugal, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The 1952 tournament was held at Maracanã Stadium and Fluminense won the two-legged final 2-1 on points to claim the title for the first time. To commemorate that achievement, the club’s new away shirt features nods to the victory.
The 23/24 Away kit arrives in a white base, with the main feature being the traditional green, red and white stripes across the chest. Further details include a white V-neck collar, sleeves featuring a sublimated diamond pattern and trims popped in red. At the bottom of the jersey, the design of the original cup has also been included for the perfect finishing touch. To complete the look, a unique signoff featuring the club’s colours has been included on the inside of the neck as well as the hem. Sadly for the overall aesthetic, the Betano sponsor sticks out like a sore thumb, so here’s hoping it’s available sans sponsor, leaving a pristine look, as displayed in the last image below…
The 23/24 Fluminense Away kit will be available to buy from 06 April via umbro.com/br.
