adidas Launch Olympique Lyon 23/24 Home Shirt

Continuing their long-standing partnership that runs until 2025, adidas and Olympique Lyon have unveiled the club’s new 2023/24 home strip, which arrives in Les Gones’ traditional colours, embellished with hits of gold.

The new Lyon home shirt for 23/24 from Adidas is a perfect example of how to honour tradition while also keeping things feeling fresh. It arrives on the scene in the club’s classic white base, with the accompanying red and white trim executed to perfection on the collar and on the stripe that’s been positioned on the left side of the chest, with the club crest on top. But then the whole look is ramped up by the inclusion of gold details for the Three Stripe branding on the shoulders and chest as well as the Emirates sponsor (on the men’s jersey).

The idea behind the design of the shirt is that it’s supposed to pay tribute to Lyonnais culture, specifically acknowledging the gastronomic heritage of the city; the tricolore collar, which takes up the club's emblematic colours, is a nod to the chefs who embody Lyon's gastronomy and pass on their know-how to younger generations – transmission of knowledge is also one of the pillars of the club's academy. Then, the golden details and the high-end stitching of the material recall the quality of the training and the constant search for excellence – another parallel between chefs of the region and the club’s players

Yeah, so the gastronomical references and inspirations may feel a bit of a stretch, but that certainly doesn’t detract from what is a beautifully designed and executed shirt for the Ligue 1 side, and it's set to get its debut this Saturday when OL Féminin take on Reims, followed by the men’s match later that evening, also against Reims.
