The oldest club in Italy are showing no signs of being out of touch, with technical sponsors, Kappa launching the stylish Genoa 130th Anniversary Jersey alongside a Full “130 Line” of celebratory clothing.
Following the reveal of their 130th Anniversary Jersey in September, Genoa have now made the Kappa-produced kit available for retail, alongside a supporting "130 line” of apparel, both limited and non-limited edition, to enhance the anniversary. The kit was first debuted in the 2-2 draw with Napoli back in September, but it will get a second run out when it’s worn again this Friday in the match against Juventus.
The shirt features a special crest that’s present on the left of the chest with the Genoa CFC logo was developed ad hoc to celebrate the 130 years of the rossoblù club, and under the Griffin are positioned the dates 1893 – 2023. The gold-coloured base combines with a tone-on-tone disappearing pattern that replicates the Griffin, isolated from the logo, and the year the club was founded. The accents are red and blue on the right and left of the single-button collar respectively, and this arrangement of the club’s traditional colours continues on the sleeve cuffs.
The shirt and supporting collections’ arrival for retail was announced through a refresh of the original campaign, which was shot in the historic centre of Genoa, taking in the most popular destinations for tourists including the Rolli palaces, the noble soul of Genoa. Now though, the club takes to the streets to show off a different side to the city, one that’s shows off a new mix of faces, cultures and images. It’s part of the club’s initiative to expand the Genoa brand into international territories and audiences, with the 130th anniversary shirt acting as the focal point of the drive.
