For the first time in the team's 54 years of history, FC Bayern Frauen have revealed their own jersey. Designed exclusively for the side by Lena Gercke and produced by adidas, it will be worn in the match against Leipzig on 16 March.

For so long Bayern Munich’s women’s side has had to content itself with sharing the same kit designs as the men’s team, which, in itself, is not a bad thing necessarily, with the club showing off a unified front. But it is also nice to recognise that within a club, each team can have and like to express their different identities. Now, after 54 years of existence and in what is a major marker for the women’s game in Germany, Bayern Frauen get their own kit, with the design coming from the entrepreneur, fashion icon and model Lena Gercke with her brand LeGer by Lena Gercke.

The jersey sees a black base with peach-coloured accents featuring throughout, notably on the vertical pinstripes that lend the look a certain elegance.

Bianca Rech, Head of Department FC Bayern Women said of the kit: “The first jersey designed especially for us has a very central and emotional meaning. It's another groundbreaking day in the history of FC Bayern Frauen. A big thank you to everyone involved who developed this absolutely unique piece.

That was followed up by Linda Dallmann, who commented: “We are delighted to be playing in a jersey designed specifically for us for the first time in the history of FC Bayern. This shows the growing importance of women's football. It would be nice to see as many of our fans as possible wearing this jersey in the stadium soon.

The FC Bayern Frauen jersey will be available from 8 March in selected FC Bayern stores and in the FC Bayern online store and will also be available for children for the first time.
