New Balance and FC Porto have unveiled the club’s home shirt for the 24/25 season, and it arrives as tradition dictates, in blue and white stripes. But there’s a slight tweak on that tradition, with the presence of a smoke effect in the blue stripes, representing the Dragon, symbol of the city and the club.
Looking to build on their 3rd place finish in the league last season, FC Porto have revealed their new home shirt for 24/25 from New Balance. As always, the shirt is presented in the club’s traditional blue and white stripes, although for this incarnation there’s a nice twist to proceedings, with a sublimated black smokey graphic infused through the blue. For those that don’t know, FC Porto’s nickname is Dragões (Dragons), and this smoke is a nod to that.
João Mário, defender for FC Porto, has already worn the new shirt, and said: “Blue and white are the colours that define us and, like all fans, we too are curious to understand what will be different about a shirt with so much history like ours. This year’s is very well done and is clearly up to FC Porto’s legacy.”
New Balance's general director, Kenny McCallum, is also satisfied with the final result: “FC Porto's home jersey is one of the most recognised in the entire footballing world. They are delighted to celebrate this legacy with a subtle and contemporary design, which pays homage to the Dragon, symbol of the city, the club and its passionate fans.”
FC Porto's home kit will be available from 8 June at newbalance.com
