adidas launch AS Roma 24/25 Away Shirt

With a design that draws inspiration from the art scene in the Testaccio neighbourhood of Rome, adidas have launched the AS Roma away kit for the 24/25 season. It will be worn for the first time on 3 August in the friendly match with Olympiakos in Rieti.

Following in the footsteps of the recently revealed home shirt, the new AS Roma away shirt from adidas also draws inspiration from Testaccio, the cradle and iconic place in the hearts of Giallorossi supporters. The design is inspired by street art that distinguishes the modern urban landscape, replicating the spray paint effect that characterises the neighbourhood’s urban scenery and reinterprets Gratton's "Lupetto" (wolf cub) in a contemporary way.

It’s a design that’s steeped in the history of the region. The amphora, the symbol of the Testaccio district, appears on the jersey as an applied detail in the inside back of the collar. The reference is to the Monte dei Cocci – the artificial hill dating from the Roman era that’s the result of the accumulation of millions of fragments of amphorae used to transport goods arriving by ship to the river port on the Tiber – overlooking the historic Campo Testaccio playing field, where AS Roma played from 1929 to 1940.

The jersey design features a white-coloured base on which a contrasting orange design appears, reminiscent of the spray cans used to create mural stencils. The same colour gradation of the design on the front is replicated on the Three Stripes that run down the shoulders and sleeves. Gratton's Lupetto then sits within a circle, referencing the stencil technique used by street artists.
