Ready for their return to Greece’s top division for the first time in 18 years, Athens Kallithea FC have revealed their new home shirt from Kappa for the 24/25 season in signature style.
Athens Kallithea have been quick to establish themselves in world football culture over the last two years, and now they have revealed their highly anticipated 24/25 home shirt, which will be debuted on pitch later this month as the club return to Greece’s top division for the first time in 18 years. And in signature trailblazing style, the shirt reveal has been accompanied by the release of a nostalgic, 1960s- inspired short 16 mm film entitled “Hold Me Close to You”, an ambitious visual statement by the club that is a complete departure from a football shirt presentation in a traditional or literal sense.
The club’s rise both on and off pitch has been overseen by president and creative director Ted Philipakos, who was previously the creative mind behind the rise of Venezia FC. The new home shirt follows in the more classic and refined football aesthetics of the last two seasons, arriving with a traditional collar and a unique and stylish blue-on-blue colour palette and elegant debossed lines to provide a light texture. The kit has once again been designed in collaboration with Munich-based studio Bureau Borsche, marking the third consecutive year.
The shirt also features the ΕΜΣΤ wordmark of the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens, which marks the second year of a first-of-its-kind partnership between a professional football club and an arts and culture institution.
“Last season’s home shirt is one of my favourites that we’ve worked on over the years, but we wanted to pivot to a less sporty and more elegant look this season,” said Philipakos. “I think the shirt is a testament to the power of restraint and subtlety when it’s well considered, and how it can allow distinctive colour to be the protagonist.”
