Continuing the elegance and historical heritage that was a theme of the first two kits for this season, Kappa present the FC Versailles 24/25 third shirt design. The kit is set for its on-pitch debut in the match against Boulogne on 6 December.
Seems like having lost Venezia earlier this year, Kappa have found their latest muse in French third tier side FC Versailles, with the new partnership already hitting ridiculous heights. Following on from the beautifully elegant home and away shirts released at the beginning of the current campaign, Kappa now add an equally elegant third shirt to the set. Indeed, it’s only the timing of this release that’s stopped FC Versailles from taking the top spot in our 'best kit sets of the 24/25 season' list. If only they’d released it a couple of months earlier…
The fact is that no one would've had FC Versailles on their 'One's to watch out for' list when it comes to kit releases, but that surprise element is part of what's so endearing about these types of drops, coming out of nowhere and introducing you to a team you otherwise would likely never have heard of. Certainly was on our radar early on as 'One of the best kits you may have missed this season'.
The shirt design is inspired by the ornaments of the golden grilles and the most prestigious pieces of the Palace of Versailles. It sees a deep red body joined by navy borders and gold accents. It features a stripped back "Sun" crest as a nod to the majesty of the castle.
The motif is inspired by the shapes of the gilded grilles at the entrance to the palace and the delicate decorations of the wall tapestries. The shirt is given added depth by a subtle combination of tone-on-tone colours and patterns through the body, with every detail connecting the FC Versailles team to the historical and cultural values of the palace, highlighting its unique heritage.
