adidas Celebrate Ajax' 125th Anniversary With Special Edition Kit

In honor of Ajax's 125th anniversary, adidas and Ajax proudly introduce a commemorative edition of one of football’s most iconic and enduring kits.

In a celebration of heritage and history, Ajax and adidas have unveiled the 125th-anniversary edition of one of football’s most iconic kits. A design that pays homage to the club’s roots, the special edition jersey takes inspiration from Ajax’s first known team picture in the now-famous white-red-white strip, taken on September 10, 1911.

Before that historic season, Ajax had sported an all-black kit before transitioning to red and white stripes. However, a promotion to the First Division required a unique kit design, leading Ajax to adopt the uniform of the now-defunct Amsterdam club V.V.V. (Veni Vidi Vici). That decision birthed the unmistakable look that has become synonymous with the club.

The anniversary jersey channels vintage aesthetics, featuring long sleeves, a classic buttoned collar, and a stitched Amsterdam flag on the chest—an honor once reserved for players who represented the city. Complementing the shirt are all-white shorts and black socks, which Ajax wore up until the 1961/62 season, with historically accurate red and white cuff variations.

Further elevating the tribute, all sponsor logos are subtly integrated into the red lane for a seamless retro feel – including the iconic Trefoil, which continues to make its mark in the modern game.

Completing the anniversary range, a burgundy red track jacket and pants add a modern yet nostalgic touch. A fitting tribute to 125 years of footballing excellence.
