A wild mash-up of Samba colours create Leo's craziest boots yet.
Adidas turn up the colour dial for their latest signature Messi F50 adizero, using a wild mash-up of Samba inspired colours that fuse together to create a unique package fit only for the fleet-footed Argentine. It's another fresh approach to the adidas Messi collection that last year gave us two exclusive designs.
For 2014 adidas are on another visual assault when it comes to the footwear of their best player. The new boots combine all four colours of the recent Samba collection and will be worn by Leo this week in in Barcelona's Champions League clash with Manchester City.
Speaking on the boots inspiration, adidas Senior Product Manager Antoine Hadjimanolis explained: "The design inspiration is taken from the energy sources that inspire Messi and where these come from. He gets his energy from friends, family, team-mates and the people of his country and each of these four are incoprorated into the Samba colours in a way that looks like they're coming from the ground into the shoe."
For the upper adidas have gone with their HybridTouch material from front to back, unlike the standard editions which use a split HybridTouch/SpeedFoil combination. The tongue of the boot is made from adidas' newly developed SpeedFoil material and features Messi's custom logo. For Leo we expect him to step out in a custom-fitted leather model - something adidas have again resisted to release to the public.
Messi will lace-up in the new design for the remainder of the European season before being given a bespoke World Cup model in time for Brazil. Messi's latest boots arrive on the back of the Barca man setting another record. The Argentina forward has become the third highest goalscorer in La Liga history, moving level with former Real Madrid striker Raul on 228 La Liga strikes.
