A Closer Look At Nike's New Flyknit Football Boot
Fresh off the back of the launch in Barcelona we've put the Nike Magista through the SB photography studio for a closer look at the ground-breaking innovation that Nike are tipping to redefine the concept of how football boots look and perform.
The Magista has triggered one of the biggest reactions we've ever seen to a football boot release. Some players have made their mind up, some are open to the idea, some have knocked it back and some are undecided. Which ever camp you're in it's hard to deny you'd like to have a knock about in them.
The Magista is the result of four years of research and development in the Nike Sport Research Lab and that includes feedback from some of the world’s best attacking playmakers, including Barcelona’s Andrés Iniesta and Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze. Flyknit technology is introduced for a radical change of direction both visually and performance wise.
Flyknit technology delivers unprecedented feel, fit and control by creating a second-skin, sock-like feel and allows for strength and support to be knitted directly into the boot. The Magista features a new mid-cut Dynamic Fit Collar for a more locked-down fit and increased awareness of the body’s movements and interaction with the ground and ball.
The Magista features a 3D-knit textured upper - an aggressive texture to create friction on the ball for accurate dribbling and striking. To protect the foot from water and cold, Nike’s design team developed a special application of NIKESKIN placed over top the Flyknit. The skin is less than 0.1 mm thick and melts onto the knit. The NKESKIN is also used on the HyperVenom and aids control as well as protecting the Flyknit tech.
