We take a look at both of Ronaldo's Special Edition Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Boots
The launch of the limited edition Nike Mercurial Vapor IX CR7 had us reaching for his previous pair, released to celebrate his record breaking 2011/12 season. Just 100 pairs of each boot were released and were snapped up within minutes online.
The first Limited Edition Mercurial Vapor IX CR SE dropped in February 2013 as Nike marked a stand out season for Ronaldo by dropping 100 pairs of the boots worlwide. Each number on the heel of the boot represented an individual achievment: 1 La Liga title, 9 goals for Portugal, 14 games for Portugal, the first player to score aginast all 19 La Liga teams, 27 years old, 55 Real Madrid games and 60 goals.
The new Special Edition Vapor that landed this week is inspired by Ronaldo's Ballon d'Or win in a season where he averaged more than a goal a game. Both boots feature the bold 'CR7' graphic on the instep of the boot and are placed on a clean white backdrop, a nod to Ronaldo's love of white boots.
