PUMA left London under a pink and yellow glow this week as they unveiled their latest Tricks collection, set to feature on-pitch this summer at EURO 2016 and the Copa America. Entering a PUMA fun house of tricks and treats we took on a series of speed and power drills under the watchful eye of Radamel Falcao and Thierry Henry.
Central London was the stage as PUMA followed up their split-design of the 2014 World Cup with another trademark aesthetic for their next-generation evoSPEED 1.5 and evoPOWER 1.3. Spotlights, paint grenades and DJ sets laid down the tone and matched the vibrant nature of the design as we were guided through PUMA's footballing assault course to put their new showcase pieces through their paces.
After getting to grips with the updated evoSPEED it was time to join Falcao for some shooting drills – firing balls at hanging paint targets in the evoPOWER. It's at this point we feel obliged to apologise to the photographer that took a full blooded rebound to the face courtesy of a heavily deflected, massively sliced, completely off-target mother of all right rooted half volleys.
PUMA's presence at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was dominant thanks to the Tricks design and they're continuing to own that space with another bold combination for the major 2016 international tournaments. Rather than opting for alternative colourways for each silo, PUMA have matched them to ensure maximum on-pitch exposure come kick off next month.
Kicking off the Euro 2016 party in style, PUMA had Thierry Henry on hand to talk us through his big tournament experiences with France and how football footwear has progressed at such a rapid rate since his playing days. Cards firmly on the table, first blood to PUMA.
