Nothing can't be healed with a little helping of heritage, especially when that heritage carries a anti-septic Swoosh. Nike turn to some of their most distinctive Air Max shoes to inspire their latest small-sided FootballX collection that arrives under the 'Heritage Pack' title.
The relationship between lifestyle and football has never been tighter and Nike a welding it closer together with street football from the freshest of street sources. Iconic colourways from the Nike Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max 180 are transformed into the small-sided game, turning the same pavements that are walked in Air Max's into an urban pitch for the FootballX line-up.
This isn't the first time Nike have looked back into their archives to move forward; In May this year the Swoosh dropped a Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD collection, a celebration of true football boot greatness. The collection consisted of a selection of four different colour schemes landing on the Mercurial Superfly V, each a nod to an illustrious Mercurial of old, including the 1998 boot worn by R9 at the World Cup.
All four silos – The MagistaX, MercurialX, HypervenomX and TiempoX — are represented, with each boot inspired by different Air Max. The Mercurial takes shades from the Nike Air Max 90, the Magista is inspired by the Air Max 180 and the Hypervenom and Tiempo are a tribute to the Air Max 95 and Air Max 1 respectively.
