We take another look at the most attention demanding football boots of the year ― the adidas Glitch ― ahead of their upcoming public release to the London community.
Still letting the idea of a boot inside a boot sink in? Of course you are. The adidas GLITCH is challenging everything we know about football boots with disruptive innovation in the form of a two-piece interchangeable construction. GLITCH has taken the most successful adidas football technologies, including a laceless upper and transformed them into a new football experience. Visually the graphics, most striking across the red and black synthetic models, offer as much punch as the edgy adaptability of the product itself.
London has been chosen as the first city where players will be able to get hold of the adidas GLITCH as adidas seek to break the pattern of football boot releases. An initial group local amateur players have been testing the boot in secret during 2016. That number will continue to grow as adidas work closely with the GLITCH community to develop the boot. An additional five professional players, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kyle Walker-Peters, Dan Crowley, John Swift, Reiss Nelson and Charlie Colkett have also been testing the boot at an elite level across the country.
Initially the adidas GLITCH will be launched in a choice of six outer skins (four firm ground and two soft ground) and four inner shoes, and adidas have plans to release fresh designs on a weekly basis. Opportunities will also arise for the GLITCH community to input on designs and colourways. Only those who recieve a special invite code from members of the London GLITCH community will be able to purchase a pack, with each pack coming with one inner Techfit shoe and two outer skins of choice.
